Volunteers

Camp Hope could not exist without our volunteers! We have a need for teens, college students and adults who are willing to step out in faith and join us in our endeavors to change the direction of these children’s lives. Camp Hope will be held July 12th-18th at the Rock Eagle 4-H Camp in Eatonton, GA (new location for 2008!!!). Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Teen and College Counselors

These counselors are 9th-12th graders or in college. They are leaders and well-grounded in their Christian faith. We ask that all counselors go through the Camp Hope training and are able to commit the entire week of camp (please click on the above link for Training Dates)

Every teen counselor is paired in a one-on-one relationship with a camper. College counselors might have two or three campers. We have high expectations for our counselors because we depend on them to oversee their camper 24/7. In addition, counselors learn how to be a “kid” again with their camper and teach their camper by actions rather than words. The teen or college counselor is not only a counselor, but a mentor, sister or brother, and friend for the whole week. Every cabin is led by a head counselor that supports each counselor in many ways.

Cabin Leaders

Cabin Leaders (formerly called Sr. Teens) are repsonsible for their cabin.  They set the example for the campers and counselors in their cabin.  Cabin leaders are expected to be problem-solvers and keep their cabin on the daily schedule.  Those interested in being a cabin leader must fill-out the below application in addition to the counselor application to be considered.  Both must be submitted to the Camp Hope office by May 27th.  We ask that only individuals that have served as counselors for at least two years apply for this position - please know that is not a guaranteed position.

Adult Counselors

Adult counselors, too, play an important role at camp. They are assigned to a cabin where they oversee teen or college counselors and campers. In this role adult counselors provide support through prayer, advice, and encouragement to the counselors and campers. They help nourish the counselor and camper relationship and maintain the cabin “family.”

Middle-School Volunteers

We also have a need for volunteers in middle school. Junior Counselors must have completed the 6th or 7th grade and serve as counselors to the children of adult counselors who work at camp. Cabin Couriers must have completed the 7th grade. These volunteers are assigned to a cabin as the liaison between the cabin and Camp Hope office.
